Lauren Hallal, certified teacher of the Alexander Technique by the American Society for the Alexander Technique (AmSAT), visited tonight’s class to introduce the students to the Alexander Technique. The Alexander Technique teaches the optimum use of the body, first, through awareness of poor habits and, secondly by replacing those habits. The Alexander Technique can be applied to all aspects of daily life, and is particularly useful for actors in understanding their voice and bodies.
Lauren graduated from The Alexander Training Center Boston where she trained with Ruth Kilroy. At ATTC, Lauren studied extensively with Rivka Cohen both privately and within the program. She also studied the Alexander Technique and voice with Maria Weiss.
Lauren has a BFA in theater from Syracuse University and has been member of the Beau Jest Moving Theater for 8 years. Along with Lisa Tucker, Lauren was a member of the spin off troupe, Beau Jest Junior where she toured through out New England bringing two person shows to grades K-6. Lauren wrote the play, lyrics and music for the play, The Hermit of Chestnut Hill, which chronicled her experience with the famous Boston Squatter, The Hermit of Chestnut Hill, Bill Britt.
